this video mentions that in this first chapter of the book how every person can seek out encounters with art, to think about art, to enjoy it and it can fill our imagination. humans have always had an natural impulse and desire for art all through history until now, specially when we are just a child. crating art is also fulfilling your purpose as humans because we are continuing gods creation through cultivating and creating beauty in this world. it also explains artists importance: to society they create spaces for human experience. they transform the ordinary to extraordinary. they record and commemorate events. the make the tangible form to feelings and ideas. also that art strengthens our visual awareness and helps us to think critically about our entire visual experiences. in the end it tells us how this class will help us slow down and to appreciateart by spending more time with it.

 the pictures below are some of the pieces I made in my ceramics class. I always liked ceramics and I took a class last fall, that is when I made these. I learned basic ceramics but also added a personal touch to the pieces I made. I used clay and clay making tools and all of the pieces are made by hand and without a  throwing wheel. I enjoy doing ceramics because firstly it brings me peace in the process and secondly I get to make all kinds of things that mean a lot to me.
